Important Changes to Rank Tracking

We have always aimed to keep our prices fair and to pass on efficiencies to our users. Last Saturday, Google made a major change that affects the way rank tracking has worked for decades.

Until now, it was possible to pull the top 100 Google results in a single API request using the n=100 parameter. That option has now been removed. To fetch the same 100 results today, we need to make 10 separate requests, which has multiplied costs tenfold overnight.

Many rank tracking tools have already responded by limiting results to the top 20, reducing tracking frequency, or raising prices.

We believe there is real value in continuing to provide the full top 100 results. It offers a more complete picture of the search landscape and allows for deeper insights than shorter result sets can provide.

To absorb most of the new costs while still keeping the product affordable, we are introducing a small change. Rank checking inside the clustering module has been free for the past four years. From now on, enabling it will use an additional credit per keyword. In reality, fetching the top 100 results now costs us ten times more, so we should be charging ten credits. Instead, we have chosen to cover the majority of that cost ourselves and pass on only a small part to you.

We feel this is a fair solution that maintains the depth of data our users find valuable. This change takes effect immediately. If you have any questions, please reach out.
